Denise earned her Master of Social Work degree from Adelphi University, with a concentration in trauma-based disorders and children and family therapy.
In addition to her role at Suffolk Counseling Services, Denise provides individual counseling to children and adolescents ages 4–18, as well as older adults. She has extensive experience working with children and teens diagnosed with depression, anxiety, PTSD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), social anxiety, self-harm behaviors, and a range of emotional and behavioral challenges.
Denise is certified in Autism Spectrum Disorder, advanced diagnosing and assessment, trauma-based solutions, and working with aging adults experiencing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrative methods, allowing clients to focus on self-awareness, personal strengths, and meaningful growth. Denise incorporates journaling, workbooks, and individualized tools to support self-esteem, peer relationships, and family dynamics. With younger children, she integrates art, music, and play therapy to promote mindfulness, emotional expression, and the development of healthy social skills.
Denise is deeply dedicated to supporting children, families, and older adults as they explore new strategies to improve their mental health and overall well-being. She encourages clients to begin each day with the mindset that “today is about me,” and helps children learn to confidently express their emotions by reminding them to “use your words” as they move toward a more positive path forward.
