During the COVID-19 pandemic, the US Department of Health & Human Services took steps to make it easier for health care professionals to provide telehealth services in order to continue giving people safe access to the medical help they need. Suffolk Counseling Services offers telehealth appointments, and we will continue to do so after the pandemic is under control.
Telehealth at Suffolk Counseling Services
Quality Care & Convenience
At first, both our staff and clients were hesitant about the efficacy of telehealth compared to in-person appointments. But once properly implemented, it quickly became clear that telehealth appointments would not decrease the quality of care. Even though we are not in the same room as our clients, telehealth appointments provide the face-to-face communication necessary for an effective counseling session. It is amazing how much seeing someone’s face and body language can positively contribute to the therapy process.

Accessing professional mental health care has never been more convenient. Telehealth sessions enable our counselors to work around your busy schedule while saving you the cost and time of traveling. Whether you have a hectic work schedule, childcare needs, or just an overall busy lifestyle, telehealth makes it possible for you to accomplish your daily tasks without missing a therapy session. You now have the ability to talk to our mental health care providers from the comfort of your home, or wherever you happen to be. And because all of our therapists are licensed in New York State, Suffolk Counseling Services can work with clients living up in Buffalo, to Manhattan, all the way out to Montauk.

Hybrid Programs
There may be some days when it is more convenient for you to schedule a telehealth session, and other days when an in-person session would be better. This is why Suffolk Counseling Services offers hybrid programs, enabling our clients to switch between telehealth and in office sessions as they see fit.
More Affordable Than Ever
At Suffolk Counseling Services, we have always accepted nearly all forms of health insurance. And during these uncertain times, there is a possibility that you qualify to save even more.
“The HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) is providing flexibility for health care providers to reduce or waive cost-sharing for telehealth visits and other virtual care paid for by Federal health care programs, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), during the public health emergency.”
