Have you decided that the time has come for you to seek help for symptoms of anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns? Now more than ever, people are turning to experienced health professionals to help them manage the feelings that have been preventing them from living their life to the fullest. It may be difficult to take that first step, but with over 100 years of combined experience, the licensed therapists at Suffolk Counseling Services are ready to guide you when making that all important decision.
What to Consider
One of the first things we consider very carefully when you start the process is to ensure that you are paired with the best match for your needs. You may not even know the exact nature of what is bothering you, but we can help you to figure that out. All of our counselors are highly trained, yet we carefully take into consideration that the person you are meeting with is the right fit for your age, personality, and what you are struggling with. The next criteria is your availability. We can schedule appointments during the day, evenings and even on the weekends, and work with you to find a day and time that is most convenient for you. Initially we schedule a one time consultation to decide how we can best help you.
We invite you to watch this short video, where our founder Alyson Ryan walks you through everything you need to know and explains why Suffolk County Services is where many people on Long Island go when seeking help. She has 15 years of experience as a social worker, advocating for people to actualize their full potential and has poured her passion into making Suffolk County Services a success.
Individual Counseling
In today’s world, it’s not only adults who have mental health concerns, but also adolescents and children. Our skilled and licensed practitioners have a vast amount of experience helping our clients navigate the challenges of what can sometimes be a complex and overwhelming life situation. These therapists are compassionate, professional and are eager to help in any way that they can.

Group Counseling
The great thing about group counseling is that you quickly learn that you are not alone. Instead you are with a supportive and empathetic community of individuals, all with unique stories and challenges of their own to share. It’s a special place where you have the opportunity to connect with others while you heal. It’s a comforting setting where your concerns are met with understanding and your struggles addressed. Our group counseling sessions have resonated so well with the community that we now offer the following opportunities to meet in person on several topics.
Caregivers Connection: A compassionate space for caregivers to share experiences, gain emotional support, and learn practical strategies for managing the challenges of caregiving.
Little People, Big Emotions: Children’s Skills & Socialization Group for ages 6-10! Each session focuses on a common challenge children face, providing fun, interactive games to practice essential life skills in a safe and therapeutic environment
Social Anxiety Support and Skills Group: A space where individuals experiencing social anxiety can come together to share experiences, offer support, and learn coping strategies in a safe and understanding environment.
Another Option
Not able to visit one of our offices in person? We offer convenient telehealth appointments that can be done from the comfort of your home. We even offer a virtual group counseling session that is held online every Tuesday. No matter which option you choose, we have found that, especially for people suffering from social anxiety, seeking assistance this way can be an important first step forward. We still provide the face-to-face communication necessary for an effective counseling session.
