Teen Stress Is More Common Than You Think

A lot of people forget just how stressful it can be to be a teenager. Even if nothing dramatic is happening, the pressure just builds, from grades, friendships, expectations, and even just keeping up with everything day-to-day. It’s easy to brush off teen stress as just a “phase,” but that doesn’t make it any less real.

Stress in teens doesn’t always look like stress. It can manifest as snapping at people, excessive sleeping, headaches, or feeling completely drained. Sometimes they won’t say anything because they don’t want to be a burden, or because they don’t even know how to put it into words.

Support Can Make a Real Difference

Helping teens manage stress isn’t about telling them to “calm down.” It’s about giving them tools that actually work for them. That might be learning to slow down their thoughts, finding ways to express what they’re feeling, or just having a space to talk without feeling judged.

At Suffolk Counseling Services, we work with teens in a way that respects where they’re coming from. No lectures, no pressure, just support that meets them where they are.
