Alyson Ryan

Alyson Ryan, LCSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of Suffolk Counseling Services, LCSW, PC, a thriving mental health practice serving Long Island and beyond through in-person and telehealth care. With more than 18 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker, Alyson is recognized for her ability to bridge clinical excellence, leadership, and mentorship within the behavioral-health community.

Her career reflects a rare balance of compassion and strategy—blending the heart of a clinician with the vision of a business leader. Alyson has built and led a multidisciplinary team known for its culture of collaboration, integrity, and growth. She is deeply committed to supporting both clients and clinicians in finding meaning, balance, and purpose in their work and lives.

Alyson’s expertise spans clinical practice, organizational leadership, and professional development. She frequently shares insights on topics such as leadership in mental health, building sustainable and values-driven private practices, the intersection of trauma and resilience, and the importance of authentic connection in helping professions.

As a clinician, Alyson provides individual therapy for anxiety, trauma, perinatal and postpartum adjustment, and life transitions. Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal and Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Strength-Based practices.

Alyson’s professional experience includes program development in domestic and sexual-violence prevention, adjunct teaching at Hofstra and Adelphi Universities, and supervising early-career clinicians on their path to independent licensure. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from Stony Brook University and a bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration from the University of Central Florida.

A dedicated member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Alyson remains an active advocate for ethical, accessible, and client-centered care. She is also a member of the Women Presidents Organization (WPO)—an invitation-only network representing the top 3% of women-owned businesses worldwide—where she collaborates with other executives committed to leadership, growth, and social impact.
