With a passion for communication, Ruth brings a unique perspective to counseling. She has dual certifications as a licensed clinical social worker and speech-language therapist. Blending both into helping her clients use their voice to find more purpose, connection and joy in life! Ruth genuinely believes that good communication is the key to positive relationships and change. She has been privileged to witness healing through self-discovery and nurturance time and again.
In her practice, Ruth offers individual counseling for a variety of mental health issues such as anxiety, stress, Women’s issues, Trauma/PTSD.
She specializes in Life Adjustment/Transitions including:
- Young Adult College/Work
- Career Change/Retirement
- Perinatal/Parenting
- Adult Children/Parent Relationships
- Divorce/Separation
- Grief/Loss
- Issues of Aging
With warmth and care, Ruth pairs with clients to create manageable goals using several therapeutic techniques including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic & Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Solution Focused Therapy. She works closely with individuals to construct positive support systems for her clients in all areas of their lives. Ruth is lucky enough to find her work joyful and rewarding! A lifelong willingness to explore has landed her exactly where she is meant to be. She hopes the same to be true for her clients.
Ruth has worked with individuals and families in the school and healthcare systems and private for more than 25 years. She was Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at CUNY Lehman College teaching clinical communication skills at the graduate level. She is a certified yoga instructor with a 20+ year yoga practice. Ruth Love was awarded the degree of Licensed Master Social Worker through SUNY Stony Brook University. She received an MS with a Certificate of Clinical Competence from CUNY Hunter College in Speech-Language Pathology and a BS in Communication Science from SUNY Oneonta.
