Maureen Ford is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Life Empowerment Coach with a passion for working with individuals who have past experiences that influence their present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a way that they are unhappy with.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in music and teaching, Maureen went on to get her Masters in Social Work Degree, her Life Empowerment Coaching Certification and more recently, her license as a Clinical Social Worker. Maureen began her career working at an agency that provided support to individuals and families dealing with sexual and domestic violence. She then transitioned to South Bay Wellness where she provides individual counseling. She enjoys working with a variety of populations but especially: those living with uncertainty about their future, those dealing with unnecessary guilt, those who feel they are living based on someone else’s expectations and not their own and individuals affected by trauma, sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
Maureen believes that her role is not to “fix” anyone or tell them what to do, but rather to empower people to create their own answers – thus finding a sense of joy and peace in their daily lives along with the ability to overcome anything that gets in their way of moving forward. While many people can easily identify external changes needed to reach their goals, the kind of internal changes that are necessary to create a permanently healthier, happier life are often buried in an unreachable place that therapy can help to uncover.
Maureen believes that there is a direct connection between who you are internally (your perceptions of self and others, how you view yourself ) and what happens externally. Maureen helps others learn how to make choices from a place of peace, love, safety and purpose as opposed to doubt, worry, anger and other destructive emotions. Maureen also works with individuals who are going through major life transition, helping them to move through the transition with less anxiety and doubt and with a clearer vision of their next step.
Maureen Specializes In:
- Self-esteem/Self definition
- Life transitions (empty nest, divorce, career change)
- Making clear, confident choices
- Anxiety
